Human Migration Threatens National Security

One of Indonesia's problems in developing its population is human migration. Without policies to regulate the people's mobility, migrations can lead to social and communal conflicts.

 

Sonny Harry Harmadi (Chairman of the Indonesian Coalition for Population and Development) said that there are several reasons for people to migrate, they are:

As an archipelago, Indonesia is also facing cases of human trafficking. Inter-country migration through Indonesian waters will bring potential threat to the security.

Natural disasters, global warning and financial

Population--around 54 percent of Indonesians live in urban areas located on the coasts.

With those reasons, it may weaken national security, Sonny Harry Harmadi, said during the second national working meeting on population coalition in Makassar, South Sulawesi, and Saturday, April 27.
